Guest Blogging

I have a weird history of making friends on Twitter.  I know, don’t judge me.

Well, anyway, I have a new friend named Nicole.  She’s awesome and we get each other.  What makes her even more awesome is that she asked me to be a guest blogger on her website, and my post is up today!  My post is inspired by Jen Hatmaker’s book, 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess.

Head on over to Nicole’s website to check it out, leave a comment, browse her awesome posts, and come May, maybe you should buy her new book.

Random thoughts for your Thursday

I’m really, really sad that I’ve been such a terrible blogger as of late.  I’ve got a lot of blogs in the draft stage, but I’ve come to a halt on most of them and need some fresh inspiration.  Prayers appreciated! :)

In the meantime, here are some random thoughts for your Thursday:

  • I’m quite certain I could live off a steady diet of hummus and guacamole.
  • I’m late to the show, but Greek yogurt is crazy-good.
  • I got stuck on 95 North approaching the George Washington Bridge for over 4 hours Saturday night/Sunday morning.  A trip that should’ve taken Leah and I 35 mins took over 5 hours.  How is that real life?
  • Before getting stuck in traffic, I enjoyed seeing DISPATCH perform live at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.  I have to be honest, I only knew a song or two prior to the show, but those are some talented guys!
  • I’ve been thinking a lot this morning about how quick we are to apologize for God’s character, and how often we’d rather change Him than to change ourselves… but He’s perfect!  May we seek, by His grace, to be more like HIM instead of trying to make Him more like us.
  • My sweet friend Kathryn will be here in 8 days.  I can’t wait to see her!
  • This weekend I’ll be in Vermont with my boyfriend, Adam.  He’ll be meeting lots of family members, including mom and dad, for the first time.  I’m not worried about it at all… they’re going to love him!
  • I’m seeing Owl City tonight.  I have a feeling I’ll be standing in a sea of 16-year-olds.
  • Adam and I are probably going to Ethiopia at the end of this year.  Please keep us in prayer!

Lastly, remember my friend Kat who is spending the summer in Ethiopia? Well, she’s there!  Keep up-to-date by visiting her blog:  Visit the “Kitty in the City” section to read about her time in Ethiopia.  I love hearing about her adventures and feel like a part of me is there with her.  Keep her in your prayers, friends!

Spring Cleaning

It’s not quite spring, I know… However, I feel like I’ve got blog posts all over the place, so I’m in the process of consolidating them all here.

Please bear with me as I’m sure this won’t be pretty for at least a month or two! :)

A brief introduction…

As Austin Powers once said, “Allow myself to introduce… myself.”

My name is Brittany.  I’m a 24-year-old Vermonter who now resides in the big city.  When I say “big city”, I mean New York.  What other city is there, really? ;-)  I love Jesus, coffee and chocolate.  I also love cooking and baking just about anything.  More than making food, though, I love feeding it to people.

I’ve loved cooking since I was a kid.  I used to make my brother and his friends grilled cheese sandwiches and they’d pay me a dollar.  I still consider a good grilled cheese one of my “specialties”.  I appreciate the everyday meals like that, ones that remind you of home and childhood.  I also love a fancy, gourmet meal.  Good food is good food, right?

Some of the recipes I post here will be decadent, delicious and certainly not appropriate for those of you trying to eat healthy.  However, I also love good, healthy, fresh food.  Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring and the times in my life when I’ve been my healthiest have been those times I’ve been an avid cook in the kitchen.  Really my goal with this blog is to have a little bit of everything for everyone.  It’s going to be very unpretentious (I hope!) and I intend to show you not only my successes, but also my kitchen disasters in the hopes that you and I alike will learn from my mistakes! :-)

I look forward to sharing my kitchen adventures with you!
